PACE: Preventing Aggression with Control & Evasion
A Course Designed for working with Children and Youth.
The PACE Course is a comprehensive two-day-program. This course offers a 3 Year Certificate approved by the CAC standards.
INDIVIDUALS: The costs are $200.00 per person, including manual and certificates. This is offered on first come first serve basis in Red Deer, Alberta. Please call for dates and location.
GROUPS: We also do group training on location for organizations. Group training is available for 12 or more participants. Costs are $200.00 per person plus travel, accomodations and food.
Below is a description of the course as presented each day.
DAY ONE
PACE will introduce the participants to the theory component of the course; which covers the following:
Goals of Course
Beliefs
Role Playing
Predicting Violent Behavior
Crisis Curve
Trigger Reducing Strategies
De-escalation Strategies
Immediate Action Strategies
Crisis Control
Post Crisis Procedures
De-briefing
Incident Reporting
Safety Procedures
Upon completion of day one, the participants enhance their effectiveness in avoiding violent confrontations, sharpened observation skills and the usage of styles of communication that are geared to meeting the needs of clients & promoting safety. Furthermore participants will come to appreciate that it takes a large dose of resourcefulness, compassion, empathy and patience to create therapeutic environments that convey safety & respect for clients and staff alike.
Day one is about theory; which is taught through discussion and role playing.
DAY TWO
PACE will deliver the physical components of the course; which cover the following:
The Power of Two
Avoiding Attacks
Containing the Crisis by Removal
Closing the Gap
Escorting
Restraining
Escaping from:
Bites
Holds
Wrist Grabs
Hair Grabs
Fingernail Gouges
Kicks and Punches
Upon completion of day two, participants will be able to assess a crisis, consistently apply safety rules and to take proper steps if a crisis develops. Participants will learn to multiply body strength using proper body dynamics, how to hold without harm and monitoring a client’s safety.
Day two is about physical techniques in a non-competitive fashion as Participants and Instructor’s safety is paramount.
Participation Requirements:
Certificates are not given to those that observe, full participation is required to successfully complete the course.
PACE is delivered on a monthly basis in Red Deer, Alberta.
PACE can be delivered at your facility upon request.
